About Lodestar Wealth

Lodestar Wealth is a prescriptive personal-finance tool: it reads your whole financial picture and tells you what to do next, in order, with the dollar value of each move. It is operated by Lodestar Wealth, LLC, a company organized in Pennsylvania.

Why We Built It

Personal-finance software has been remarkably good at one thing for two decades: telling you where your money went. Categorized transactions, spending charts, a net worth line. All of it looking backwards.

Almost none of it answers the question people actually have, which is forward-looking and specific: given everything about my situation, what is the single best thing I could do with my next dollar? That answer requires holding debts, cash flow, savings, and investments in view at the same time, computing what each possible move is worth, and then ranking them. It is arithmetic and prioritization — exactly the kind of work software should be doing and mostly is not.

So Lodestar is built the other way round. It starts from your complete picture, computes the value of every move available to you, and hands you an ordered list. The first item is the thing to do this week.

How We Make Money

Subscriptions, mostly. Lodestar Plus is a flat $14.99/mo regardless of how much money you have, and the free tier includes a genuinely complete analysis rather than a teaser. We do not charge a percentage of assets, which is the industry norm and which quietly ties what you pay to something other than the work being done.

We also earn referral revenue on some of the products that appear in results, and we say so wherever that is the case. The important part is structural: affiliate payout is never an input to the ranking engine. Moves are computed and ordered by their dollar impact on you before any product is attached to them, so a recommendation that earns us nothing ranks exactly as high as one that does. Our methodology page documents the whole pipeline.

What We Will Not Do

We are not an investment adviser. Lodestar Wealth is not registered as one, does not act as a fiduciary, and does not recommend specific securities to buy or sell. What we provide is education and tools. Recommendations stay at the level of asset classes, account types, rates, and amounts.

We do not let AI produce numbers. Every dollar figure comes from a deterministic calculation engine. The language model parses documents and writes explanations; it is handed the numbers and cannot change them. Models are confidently wrong at arithmetic in a way that is invisible to the reader, and a tool whose entire output is dollar amounts cannot take that risk.

We do not store bank credentials. Not ever. Raw statements are processed and discarded rather than retained. What we keep, and for how long, is set out in the privacy policy and the financial privacy notice.

We do not give tax advice. The Tax Center surfaces published IRS figures and flags strategies worth raising — and then tells you to confirm with a CPA, because that is a licensed judgment call and we are not the ones to make it.

Questions People Ask

Who operates Lodestar Wealth?

Lodestar Wealth is operated by Lodestar Wealth, LLC, a limited liability company organized in Pennsylvania, United States. It is an independent company — not owned by, funded by, or affiliated with a bank, broker, or asset manager. You can reach us at contact@lodestarwealth.io.

How does Lodestar make money?

Two ways, both disclosed. The main one is subscriptions: Lodestar Plus is a flat $14.99/mo, and a free tier includes a complete analysis. The second is affiliate revenue on some of the products mentioned in results. Affiliate payout is never an input to the ranking engine — recommendations are computed and ordered by dollar impact before any product is matched to them.

Is Lodestar Wealth a registered investment adviser?

No. Lodestar Wealth is not an investment adviser, is not registered as one, and does not act as a fiduciary. It provides education and tools. It does not recommend specific securities, does not manage money, and never holds or moves your funds.

Does Lodestar store my bank credentials?

Never. Bank credentials are not stored at any point. Where you connect an account, the connection is handled by a regulated aggregator and Lodestar receives read-only data, never your login. Raw uploaded statements are processed and discarded rather than retained.

Is Lodestar available outside the United States?

Not currently. The tax rules, retirement account types, and benchmark datasets the engine relies on are U.S.-specific, and producing confident numbers from the wrong jurisdiction's rules would be worse than producing none. Lodestar is built for people in the United States.
